Honoring Insight: The Impact of Kathe Kowalski:
Work by LaToya Ruby Frazier
SPECIAL HOMECOMING OPENING RECEPTION, FRIDAY,
OCTOBER 7,5-7 pm
Having graduated only seven years ago, alumna photographer
LaToya Ruby Frazier has already had a powerful emergence in the American art scene, as evidenced by her inclusion in the popular program Art 21and an impressive early resume that includes work shown at P.S.1

The Bronx Museum of the Arts and many other prominent national and
international venues. She has been written about in The New York Times,
The New Yorker, ArtForum, Artnet, Art Papers, Art Info, Art in America,
The Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal and The Village Voice.
The exhibition pairs her work with that of one of her Edinboro mentors,
the late Kathe Kowalski who greatly influenced Frazier as a student.
The deeply personal narrative style that Kowalski imparted to Frazier is evident in the interplay of the photos of each artist. Selections from Kowalski’s estate come courtesy of the Erie Art Museum. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog from Bruce Gallery Press.
